It seems Alex Drummond’s dog, George, might be getting a head start on Easter! 🐰
In a recent video Alex shared, the three-year-old golden retriever is suddenly not the calm and patient sidekick we’re all used to seeing while he snoozes, snacks, and cuddles next to baby Sofia all day. Instead, he’s sprinting across the backyard, fully locked in on a rabbit that’s darting along the fence line. The caption says it best: “Probably the closest George has ever come to catching a rabbit.”
And truthfully, “locked in” might be underselling it. George is running full speed, weaving back and forth, clearly convinced this is his moment. The rabbit, of course, has other plans and keeps just enough distance to stay out of reach, which only seems to fuel George more.
It’s funny to see, mostly because this is the same dog who usually sits so politely next to Sofia, waiting for her to drop a snack like it’s part of a well-rehearsed routine. He’s known for being gentle, sweet, cuddly, and very patient—never grabbing or rushing, just always hoping for a bite or a head scratch. So watching him flip the switch and go full backyard hunter feels a little unexpected! Maybe he picked up a thing or two from the dogs out at the ranch. Or maybe it’s just been in him all along, waiting for the right moment to show up. Either way, he gives it his all. 😂
He doesn’t catch the rabbit—no surprise there—but he definitely puts in the effort. And by the end of it, he looks pretty pleased with himself, like he just completed a very important task.
Still, it’s hard not to imagine that once the running is over, he goes right back to his usual post beside Sofia’s high chair, ready and waiting. Chasing rabbits might be exciting, but there’s something to be said for a guaranteed snack!
