ESPN’s Lisa DiNello and Brian Girardin take you under the hood of the major project
As the new college football season truly gets underway this weekend, ESPN is set to broadcast hundreds of games from across the country, all leading up to the sport’s expanded 12-team College Football Playoff system, which thrilled fans in its debut a year ago.
For the Worldwide Leader in Sports, the new CFP offered an opportunity for ESPN’s creative team to completely transform is graphical look around the event. From the scorebug to keyables and transitions, to bumpers and slates, a whole new package and on-air look was built from the ground up.
In this exclusive deep dive, ESPN’s Principal Creative Director Brian Girardin and Associate Art Director
Lisa DiNello take you inside the step-by-step process of what it took to design, build, and launch a whole new look for the next chapter in college football’s CFP era.
