Patrick Mahomes is grinding through Chiefs training camp, working his way back from a torn ACL and LCL that ended his 2024 season early. It has been a long road back. But while Patrick puts in the work in Missouri, Brittany Mahomes had her own milestone moment on Monday — one that had nothing to do with football and everything to do with where women’s sports is heading. The Kansas City Current, which the Mahomeses co-own, officially opened KC Current Studios on Aug. 3, a purpose-built media and production facility at Current Landing.
What is KC Current Studios and what does it do?
The studio is not a small side project. It houses a podcast recording studio, a photo studio, a video studio, a broadcast studio and a full production control room. The idea, according to the team, is to build a permanent content hub tied to the Kansas City Current, CPKC Stadium and Current Landing — a place where storytelling, live broadcasts and community programming all happen under one roof.Co-founders Angie and Chris Long were direct about what the facility is meant to do. “We are thrilled to open KC Current Studios at such a monumental moment in media. We believe that the stories surrounding women’s sports are every bit as powerful as the competition itself,” they said in a statement. “KC Current Studios gives us a permanent home to tell those stories every day where we can feature our athletes, our partners, our fans and the leaders who are changing our city and sports.”The Longs made clear this is part of a longer effort to expand the club’s reach beyond the pitch. It is about building something that lasts — media infrastructure that amplifies the league’s voice and gives women’s sports a platform that matches the quality of what happens on the field.
How did Patrick Mahomes react to Brittany’s KC Current Studios moment?
Brittany was at the ribbon-cutting ceremony with all three of her children and shared the moment on social media. In a collaborative post with the KC Current account, she posted a photo gallery showing the kids behind a KC Current Studios podium, each taking a turn with the microphones. The caption read: “Mahomes Mic Check.”Patrick, locked into camp mode with the Chiefs, still found a second to respond. He dropped three blue hearts on the post — a quiet but telling reaction from someone who clearly knows what this moment meant. It was brief, but it said enough. The Mahomeses have been part of the Current’s ownership group alongside Angie and Chris Long since before the club made history with CPKC Stadium, the first soccer-specific stadium built for a women’s professional team in the United States. KC Current Studios is the latest addition to that vision and based on Monday’s celebration, it is one Brittany is fully invested in.
