Cook County Announces Free 2026 Vets and Pets Rabies Vaccine and Microchip Clinics


Chicago, IL—(ENEWSPF)— The Cook County Department of Veterans Affairs (CCVA) and the County’s Department of Animal and Rabies Control (ARC) have partnered with Chicago Animal Care and Control, Magnificent Mutts Rescue, and South Suburban Humane Society to host three Vets and Pets clinics throughout the summer. These free rabies vaccine and microchip clinics are planned for dogs belonging to County military veterans, service members, and their families.

The Vets and Pets program supports veterans and service members by ensuring their pets are healthy and protected. This year’s Vets and Pets clinics are scheduled for:  

Saturday, May 30, 2026

10 a.m. to 1 p.m. 
Kedzie Armory – 1551 N. Kedzie Ave., Chicago, IL 60651 
In partnership with Chicago Animal Care and Control 

Saturday, July 18, 2026 

10 a.m. to 1 p.m. 
Leyden Township Westdale Park – 3045 Sandra Ave., Melrose Park, IL 60164
In partnership with Magnificent Mutts Rescue

Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026  

8 a.m. to noon
Bethel Church – 3500 Glenwood Lansing Road, Lansing, IL 60438;
In partnership with South Suburban Humane Society 

The Vets and Pets clinics are available to the first 100 dogs on a first-come, first-served basis. Please bring proof of military status, such as a DD214. Bring also a picture ID, veteran ID or common access card. Dogs must be on a leash. 

This is the fourth year of the Vets and Pets program.
