The Morgan Township Fire Department said their crews responded to the 10000 block of North Mann Road in Mooresville for reports of a possible house fire Sunday.
MOORESVILLE, Ind. — Two pets are dead and one is in critical condition after a house fire in Morgan County Sunday afternoon.
The Morgan Township Fire Department said their crews, along with several surrounding crews, responded to the 10000 block of North Mann Road in Mooresville for reports of a possible house fire around 1:30 p.m. May 24.
When crews arrived on scene, they said they could see “heavy smoke and fire” coming from the back of the house.
“Crews made entry and worked to extinguish the fire. Due to the rural area, tankers had to be used to shuttle water to the scene from the closest hydrant,” the department said in a post on social media.
The Morgan Township Fire Department said the fire was marked under control in an hour and 45 minutes.
The department said crews were able to get one dog and two cats out of the house, however, one of the cats died shortly after.
The Morgan Township Fire Department said CPR was performed on the dog and the other cat, however, the dog died.
The department said the cat was taken by the family to a local animal hospital with “life-threatening injuries.”
No other injuries were reported.
The American Red Cross was contacted to help the family.
Crews said the home sustained “heavy damage.”
The Morgan Township Fire Department said the cause of the fire has been ruled as “electrical in nature.”
