Energy provider EDF and EV charge point operator Pod have teamed up to launch Pod Power – the UK’s current cheapest EV home charging tariff.
Designed specifically for new and existing customers with Pod EV home chargers, the Pod Power tariff delivers seven hours of off-peak electricity between 11pm and 6am priced at 6.49p per kWh.
Pod Power isn’t just restricted to EV home charging. It can be applied to the whole household, giving them a longer, off-peak window to use appliances alongside vehicle charging.
Due to the Iran War and the energy market instability that followed, EDF has extended its off-peak EV charging periods beyond the typical five hour window to give its customers predictable charging prices.

It is estimated that this latest tariff can save users over £450 per year when compared to charging with EDF’s Standard Variable Tariff (SVH). SVHs are capped by the energy regulator Ofgem.
Pod Power is also compatible with Pod Rewards, allowing customers to earn up to £100 annually for charging their EV during periods when electricity demand is at its lowest – usually overnight.
On the back of the Pod Power launch, POD CEO, Melanie Lane, said: “Pod Power by EDF is designed to give drivers total confidence when they go electric, offering them a complete end-to-end charging solution.
“Our customers tell us they want clarity and simplicity in their energy choices, and this unique tariff delivers both. With 7 hours of low-cost electricity every night and clear, predictable pricing, we’re making it easier and more affordable for drivers to charge at home.”
EDF customer managing director, Philippe Commaret, added: “We are delighted to partner with Pod on this exclusive EV tariff. Pod Power by EDF combines competitive overnight pricing with EDF’s zero-carbon electricity, giving customers a simple, great-value way to power both their home and their car.”
