The Ghost of iPhones Past!

So there I was. Coffee in hand (of course). Feeling productive and ready to conquer the Internet like a caffeinated wizard!

And then… my iPhone 12 said, “Gnope.”

Charging port? Dead! Gone! Spiritually retired. (cue the ARGH!) So… I did the classic dance of wiggling the cable and blowing into it like it is a Nintendo cartridge from 1994. Nothing worked! This phone was done negotiating.

So off I go to Best Buy. Because, y’know, when tech dies, that’s the modern-day emergency room. Now… here is where things get interesting! Think: Three. Point. One. Hours.

Yes indeedy, I aged slightly and I’m pretty sure I grew a new personality trait somewhere around hour two. But here’s the twist… I wasn’t even mad! Why? Welp, the folks there? They were trying. You could see it. The quiet determination. The polite smiles. The “we are still on hold with Verizon” face that says, “We also did not expect this to become a trilogy.”

And oh yes… Verizon was involved. Heck, at one point, I am convinced the phone call entered a different dimension. Time slowed; heck, you could almost SEE the Department of Temporal Investigations peoples arriving. And the Best Buy team? Still there. Astonishingly still patient; doing their absolute best while being held hostage by hold music.

It felt less like customer service… and more like a group project nobody signed up for. But you know what? That *matters!*

Because effort shows. Even when systems do not cooperate and when things take forever. Even when you are sitting there wondering if you should start forwarding your mail to the Geek Squad counter (no, just… NO!).

They stuck with it. And weirdly… I left impressed. Not because it was fast, but because it was human.

What a day!
