Carolina Beach warns of email scam targeting residents


CAROLINA BEACH, N.C. (WECT) – The Town of Carolina Beach is warning residents of a phishing email scam going around the area.

According to the town, multiple residents have received emails from scammers appearing to be from the Town of Carolina Beach.

“These scam emails aim to steal information or deceive recipients by mimicking legitimate government communication,” the town said in a Facebook post.

The town suggests the following tips to stay safe:

  • Be cautious
  • Check sender addresses
  • Avoid clicking links in suspicious emails
