Some cats greet the world. Others pretend it doesn’t exist.
Introvert cats aren’t unfriendly. They just have standards. These are the cats who hear the doorbell and disappear before you can say, “It’s just Amazon.” One second they’re stretched across the couch, the next they’ve melted into a shadow behind the coats. When guests ask where the cat is, you confidently gesture somewhere vague and hope no one expects proof.
They are professional observers. They prefer to evaluate new people from under a bed or behind a cracked door, gathering data in silence. Loud laughter is suspicious. Fast movements are unacceptable. But in a quiet room with someone they trust, they transform. Suddenly they’re close, leaning in, asking for chin scratches like they didn’t just ghost the entire household.
Their affection runs on a very specific schedule. They won’t sit on your lap when you invite them. Instead, they’ll wait until you’re fully settled for the night and then step delicately across your ribs to claim the exact center of the bed. It’s love, just slightly inconvenient.
Being chosen by an introvert cat feels earned. That slow blink means something. The quiet curl at your side is a privilege. The circle is small, selective, and very, very sweet.

When I go somewhere and there’s people there
The disrespect of people being out in public exactly where someone else planned to be is honestly wild. You show up ready for a peaceful little outing and suddenly the entire population had the same idea. The lines. The noise. The sheer presence of other humans existing in your chosen spot. It’s not about hating people. It’s about them being exactly where they shouldn’t be. Deeply inconsiderate behavior from society, really.

Me: I need to stop being lonely and talk to people Someone: Hey Me:
There is truly nothing scarier for an introvert than a stranger casually starting a conversation. The polite smile activates. The brain immediately forgets how to form sentences. Escape routes are quietly calculated in real time. It’s not personal. It’s just the sudden demand for small talk without a warning label. Heart rate up, social battery down. Few things are more intimidating than a cheerful “So, how’s your day going?” from someone you’ve never met.

I saw people through the window today. That’s enough social interaction.

“Did you go out today?” Me: IntrovertNation Yes I stepped out to grab my package from the door
Stepping one toe outside the front door absolutely counts as going out. The air was felt. The outside world was acknowledged. That is effort. Not every outing needs to involve plans, crowds, or a full social commitment. Sometimes just cracking the door open and confirming the world still exists is enough. Mission accomplished. Social quota met. Time to retreat back inside and recover from that brave, two-second adventure.
