Both of my dogs have short-haired coats that don’t require much maintenance, which is a good thing since they aren’t fans of any sort of beauty treatments. They put up with being brushed, but they completely protest bath time and dread getting near the tub. Thankfully, I don’t have to bring them to the dog groomer since I doubt they would consider it an enjoyable experience.
Kaia the Bernese Mountain Dog recently had her regular salon appointment and gave her mom a piece of her mind with one simple glance.
In the TikTok from @kaia_berneseintw, the Bernese beauty stood in the salon and looked out the full-length window as she watched people stroll by. Suddenly, someone caught Kaia’s eye and she immediately locked in.
“Picking up my dog from the groomer,” the on-screen text explained, with the caption adding, “Welp, not quite the reaction I was expecting.”
The look on Kaia’s face spoke volumes. Betrayal, hurt, confusion, and indignation blended into one vivid expression. It was almost like Kaia was saying, “How could you?” with her eyes.
Followers immediately picked up on Kaia’s silent message to her mom and shared their own interpretations:
-
“That look of betrayal!” one pointed out.
-
“You said we were just stopping here to get a chewy and bam your gone and they’re laughing at me,” another posted.
-
“Dog is like ‘excuse me, where have you been?’” a follower noted.
-
“Smiles at everyone walking by.. As soon as Mom comes by the guilt trip begins!” someone commented.
-
“That’s the face for disappointment,” a fan remarked.

Stay calm since dogs pick up on your emotions.

Keep goodbyes brief and cheerful, avoiding any long-winded or overly-expressive exits.

Bring a favorite toy or blanket for comfort and familiarity.
-
Give treats before and after the appointment for positive reinforcement.
Hopefully, Kaia was treated to a Pup Cup or some other special snack to smooth things over.
