Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has a solid economy built around Reales, and knowing how to generate money efficiently makes a significant difference in how quickly the Jackdaw gets upgraded and how smoothly the game opens up. There are a few methods worth knowing about, ranging from a secret early-game cove to a fully passive income setup at the hideout.

Best ways to make money fast in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced (Reales)
1) The secret Cove at Ambergris Key
The fastest early injection of money (Reales) comes from a hidden location at Ambergris Key, found at coordinates 27,158 on the west side of the map. This spot is accessible as soon as the tutorial is done and the Jackdaw is available, making it one of the best early-game sources of gold in the entire game.
To get there, dive down through a cave at the location. Coming out the other end leads into a set of ruins with a small group of enemies inside. Take them down and loot the key from one of them. The game will indicate which enemy is carrying it when approached, so finding it is not guesswork.
The key opens a large chest containing close to 5,017 Reales in one go. On top of that, the ruins also have resources, a treasure map, and artifacts scattered around. The artifacts can be sold at traders for additional gold, and the treasure map points to even more.

2) Capture Forts early for one-time Reales payouts
Forts are another strong early-game source of gold that are worth prioritising. Each fort pays out a one-time Reales reward after the fort commander is defeated, and the easier forts are accessible without a heavily upgraded ship.
Here are the fort rewards across the map:
- Fort Charlotte: Rewards 8,000 Reales
- Fort Chinchorro: Rewards 8,000 Reales
- Fort Cabo de Cruz: Rewards 6,000 Reales
- Fort Castillo de Jagua: Rewards 6,000 Reales
- Fort Conttoyor: Rewards 6,000 Reales
- Fort Navassa: Rewards 6,000 Reales
- Fort Serranilla: Rewards 5,000 Reales
- Fort Dry Tortuga: Rewards 3,000 Reales
- Fort Eleuthera: Rewards 3,000 Reales
- Fort Gibara: Rewards 3,000 Reales
For early-game players, starting with Fort Dry Tortuga, Eleuthera, and Gibara is the safer approach for making money, bringing in 9,000 Reales combined without too much resistance. Capturing forts also unlocks new trade missions at the fleet planning table, which feeds into the passive income setup covered below.
3) Setting up the Protection Money Box
This method requires completing the This Old Cove mission and you can check out our complete guide on it. Once done, the manor at Great Inagua becomes your hideout, and inside the main room on the ground floor sits the Protection Money Box. This is the core of the passive income setup.
To activate it, go to Manage Hideout next to the money box and purchase the Facade upgrade for 4,000 Reales. This unlocks the box and starts generating gold passively at 10 Reales per minute.
From there, a few additional buildings push that rate higher:
- Increasing the generation rate: Head to the docks outside the manor and build the Fisherman’s Wharf. This doubles the money box output from 10 to 20 Reales per minute. Building it first requires restoring both the Harbor Master and the Tavern. After that, build the Treasure Dealer, which pushes the rate up to the maximum of 30 Reales per minute. This requires the General Store and the Tavern, which is already built from the previous step, so only one additional building is actually needed here.
- Increasing the storage cap: The money box starts with a cap of 3,000 Reales. Once it hits that limit it stops generating until collected, so raising the cap matters for longer play sessions.
Buying the Tower and Garden for 8,000 Reales raises the cap to 4,000 Reales. After that, the Guest House, which costs 20,000 Reales, raises it to the maximum of 5,000 Reales. The guest house is worth saving for later since it is the most expensive money purchase in the hideout upgrade chain.
4) Fleet missions at the planning table
The Fleet planning table inside the hideout offers another passive money stream. Captured ships can be sent out on trade missions that run in real-world time and return with gold on completion. The mission worth focusing on is the False Colors trade mission, which pays out 1,350 Reales and takes 30 minutes of real-world time to complete.
The risk here is that the ship can fail the mission and be lost entirely. To minimise that, make sure the ship being sent is fully repaired before departure. The ship type needed for this is a Schooner, which can be captured during naval combat by boarding and winning the fight, then choosing to take the vessel rather than scuttle it.
Capturing more forts unlocks additional trade missions at the planning table, which means more ships can be sent out simultaneously for more passive gold coming in at the same time.

5) Boarding ships without naval combat
This last method is the most unconventional one and works against any ship regardless of its star rating, including four-star Man O’ War vessels that would be extremely difficult to fight ship-to-ship.
The approach skips naval combat entirely. Get ahead of the target ship and cut off its path to slow it down without triggering aggression. Once it is blocked and stationary, jump off the Jackdaw and swim toward the enemy vessel. Climb aboard while it is still passive, since the crew has not spotted anyone yet at this point.
From there, take down the crew however works best. Stealth takedowns around the deck, aerial assassinations from the rigging, or direct combat all work. The morale meter shows how many enemies remain. If it is not depleting fully, there is usually one final enemy near the top of the mast that needs to be dealt with separately.
Once the morale meter is fully emptied, the only option that appears is Scuttle Ship. Select it, then swim back to the Jackdaw. The moment the ship is boarded again, the enemy vessel explodes and showers the area with gold, materials, and resources. The exact payout varies by ship type, but a four-star Man O’ War can yield 1,000 Reales or more in a single encounter alongside a full haul of crafting materials.
This method works from very early in the game with an unupgraded ship, making it one of the most accessible high-value money methods available throughout the entire playthrough in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.
