You don’t start out with much when you land on an island with only a shipwreck to dismantle, but soon you’ll set sail on the Seven Seas engaging in battles, looting treasure caves, and intercepting merchant ships. If you’re busy building up your settlement, some community events, Ambitions, and buildings cost money. Read on for how to get coin quickly in Corsair Cove.
Raven & Audenzia
Raven is one of the first Captains you can recruit once you have a tier 2 ship by completing his quest, Raven in the Jungle in The Ancient Archipelago. Other than being one of the best early pirates you can get due to his manoeuvrability stats, he doubles the coin you receive from completing Seven Seas events.
Getting gold early on in the game helps advance your base, but also makes it easier to bribe your way out of tough situations or pay off your pirate crew in exchange for Cohesion.
When you reach Fairwinds Passage, you can complete the local Ambition started by “An Audience with Audenzia” to recruit Audenzia Moro. She also grants bonus coin from Seven Seas events, but offers a +150% Coin bonus, meaning you net even more.
Events
There are many events in Corsair Cove and as you uncover more of the map, you can click on each event to see what the reward will be. Unlocking regions and exploring side quests in that region is a good way to make fast cash.
- Keep an eye out for Treasure Caves. There are one or two of these in each region, netting around 100 coin each.
- Treasure Fleets are another great way to get coin, they are a limited-time event that patrol regions.
- The Tier 4/5 Event “The Golden City” lets you loot the center of the city for 10,000 coins.
- The Ancient Archipelago also has some lucrative events netting 750 coins.
- Remember to equip a captain like Raven or Audenzia before completing these events for even more coin!
If you’re playing in Uncharted mode, there are also Community events such as Taxes and Turmoil, Rich Drifters, and Despicable Tradings that get you a lot of coin. Here are a couple examples:
Taxes and Turmoil
- This gives you coins proportional to your max Drifters, at the cost of 30 Cohesion and a significant number of said Drifters.
Despicable Tradings
- Take a penalty to Rum, Cassava Bread, or Black Powder production in exchange for a large amount of coin.
- This is best done on a production line you are not actively using for upkeep!
The Sharing of Plunder
Holding large amount of coin can be risky if you’re playing Uncharted mode. This causes “The Sharing of Plunder” to appear. Your crew demands a share of the coin.
- Selecting share the treasure with everyone costs all of your coin, and gives +25 Cohesion.
- Diving half the coin gives you +10 cohesion, at the cost of 50% of your total.
- Alternatively, you can hang the troublemakers or ignore the problem. Both of these options cost you some Cohesion and hanging the troublemakers reduces your drifters by a bit.
Principle Buildings
Trading Post (Wealth 1)
One of the first Principal Buildings you unlock that can earn you Coin is the Trading Post, available at Tier 1 of the Wealth tree. It can be found under Community buildings and cost 100 coin and 50 planks to build.
Get this building up and running as quickly as possible, using early resources such as Planks and Stew to trade for coin. Remember to switch out the resources as you progress, depending on what you have an abundance of.
The Crow’s Nest (Seafaring 1)
Once you’ve built T2 ships, we recommend you swap out your Trading Posts for Crow’s Nests.
The Crow’s Nest is great for generating coins. They earn you 20 coins every time you trigger a discovery event, and they cost 100 coins, so they pay for themselves after 5 triggers. However, if you re-invest the money you earn into more Crow’s Nests, you can really rake it in whenever you trigger a discovery event!
Discovery events trigger when you remove fog from an area of the map. There are 14 zones in total and 13 you can remove fog from (though we recommend you avoid the Writhing Deep until you have T6 ships because of the Kraken attacks).
Pro Tip
You can dismantle all of your Trading Posts to regain the Planks/Coins spent to use on building more Crows’ Nests.
The Brawler Arena (Empire 4)
The Brawler Arena allows you to sacrifice 75 drifters to gain 900 coin. If you need more Drifters to fuel your arena, you can pick them up through the hourly event “The Bloody Bastille” in Buccaneer’s End.
The Loan Shark (Wealth 3)
This should be your last resort for getting coin in a pinch, as it grants you a loan… but you do have to pay it back.
Treasure
Some combat actions accumulate Treasure. You can earn up to 100 Treasure in a single Seven Seas event.
- If you run out of supplies in combat, you can sacrifice some treasure to restore them without losing any Health or Crew.
When the event ends, your treasure is converted into Coins and Supplies.
