President Donald Trump’s efforts to squelch the “patchwork” approach to artificial intelligence regulation likely altered what types of bills state lawmakers passed but did little to limit the quantity.
There were 109 AI laws enacted across 29 states as of July 1, according to a recent analysis by Scott Babwah Brennen, director of New York University’s Center on Technology Policy. There were 121 laws enacted in 39 states at the same time last year.
