For more than a decade, Sandradee Makejev has been pouring upwards of $1.2 million a year into Facebook’s coffers to promote her boutique online fashion brand, St Frock.
That was, until April 24 at 11.16pm – just before the Anzac Day long weekend – when an automated email landed in her inbox from “The Facebook Team” telling her that the 1 million-strong page she had lovingly cultivated had been suspended. “I thought it was a scam,” she says. “Then I checked and realised, ‘Oh no, this is real. This is what it feels like to have your page taken away.’”
