Onyx
Breed: Husky Mix/Large
Gender: Male
Weight: 72 pounds
Age: 4 ½ years
Orphaned Since: Jan. 30
Adoption Fee: $150
Onyx may be a shade of the color black, but at SPCA Florida, it’s also the name of a Husky mix who’s game for adventure and exercise. Even though this breed is typically hard-wired with a prey drive, temper that urge with daily workouts. Onyx blends well with a family with no felines, no farm animals, no other dogs or young kiddos. His forever family will need to monitor his Houdini-like talents to escape, another Husky trait. Make no mistake: Onyx can execute a 180 from overdrive to decompression for couch time to cuddles and belly rubs. Schedule a sleepover soon to get acquainted with this gem.
Kirk
Breed: Mixed Breed/Large
Gender: Male
Weight: 40 pounds
Age: 6 years
Orphaned Since: Feb. 10
Adoption Fee: $150
Many puzzle pieces are missing from Kirk’s backstory. Slo-mo is the best policy when getting acquainted with this mixed breed dog. SPCA Florida’s canine team determined that Kirk does not like to be left alone when outdoors. But once hooked up to a leash, he thrives on walks and tends to forget he’s timid. Kirk arrived at the shelter from another rescue that recommended that he is most comfy with older kids. This middle-aged canine will scope out a sunny spot and stretch out to soak up some rays. Are you ready for a meet-and-greet to get to know and love this pooch who’d love to cap off his hike with a sunbath?
Miles
Breed: Domestic Shorthair
Gender: Male
Weight: 14 pounds
Age: 4 years
Orphaned Since: Dec. 16
Adoption Fee: $75
No matter how many miles you need to drive, the trip will be worth it to meet Miles, a domestic shorthair cat who’s lounging in SPCA Florida’s Linda’s Lovelies Cattery. He personifies a laundry list of positive attributes: easy going, affectionate, compatible with cats. He’s the poster cat for lounging on laps. Win him over by offering his favorite treat ― catnip. He arrived in December from another rescue and, yes, is a tad overweight. Engage him in a wand toy interaction and he’ll be in tip-top shape soon. Following a few dental extractions, the canine team proclaimed him healthy so welcome him home today.
Richie
Breed: Domestic Shorthair
Gender: Female
Weight: 5 ½ pounds
Age: 6 months
Orphaned Since: Nov. 18
Adoption Fee: $125
Spring has sprung, so what better way to celebrate the season than to schedule an outing to the Orlando Cat Café to meet Richie. Found as a stray in a gutter…er…a storm drain, domestic shorthair Richie tipped the scales at fewer than two pounds. But now she’s a healthy 5 ½ pounds with ringworm and lip lesions in her rearview mirror. Richie’s cute-and-cuddlly quotient is off the charts. Schedule a visit to the Café where you can leave the chaos of the world behind and tap into stress-busting strokes on Richie’s fur. She’s waiting for you to welcome her into her forever family: https://www.orlandocatcafe.com.
