The Indianapolis Capitols are slated to begin play in the relaunched Continental Football League this summer.
WESTFIELD, Ind. — Westfield’s Grand Park was announced Tuesday, March 24, as the home of the newly re-formed Indianapolis outdoor professional football team.
In February, 13News reported the Indianapolis Capitols will be the fourth and final team of the Continental Football League’s (CoFL) northern division. The league is slated to launch this summer.
The Caps, as they’ll also be known, “return as one of the CoFL’s most historic names,” the relaunched league said, referencing the original Continental Football League from 1965-69.
The Indianapolis Capitols were the last league champion, defeating the San Antonio Toros in a triple overtime title game in 1969.
On March 24, Grand Park Sports & Entertainment announced it will serve as the home of the Capitols, serving as the team’s venue for “roster selection, training, fan engagement, and home game competition.”
“The return of the Indianapolis Capitols represents an important step in the continued expansion and proliferation of football at Grand Park,” Greg Stremlaw, co-chief executive officer at Grand Park Sports & Entertainment, said in a statement, “When we learned this historic franchise would be coming back to market as part of the Continental Football League’s relaunch, we were intentional about positioning Grand Park as the right long-term home.”
Additional information on the Capitols’ 2026 season schedule, ticket information information and “community initiatives” will be announced in the coming weeks, officials said.
