Start with practically nothing as you grow your garden in Garden Horizons from just a few carrots to a lush farm. If you’re not sure where to start or how to play Garden Horizons, this guide will help you understand the overall experience. We’ll cover what to do first, tips for making money, how quests work, and other useful info to know!
How to Get Started in Garden Horizons
When starting Garden Horizons for the first time, you’ll have to pick a plot for your garden. After doing so, you’ll immediately be thrown into a short tutorial. While there is a button to skip it, we don’t recommend doing this since it should only take you a couple of minutes to get through. And it explains all the simple mechanics like how to buy seeds, how to grow plants, and of course, selling your crops.
Once you get through the tutorial, you can repeat that gameplay loop of buying seeds and planting them to sell for money. Over time, you’ll grow from selling cheap carrots to getting more valuable seeds. And certain ones will let you harvest them multiple times. This is a cool way to plant a seed that continues to make money long-term, like corn.
Did you know that Bill’s Seed Shop and Molly’s Gear Shop restock every five minutes? Using the buttons at the top of your screen, you can teleport to certain stands. Be sure to check Bill’s Seed Shop after a restock in case there’s a rare seed you want to buy.
Tips for Making Money
One of your goals in Garden Horizons is learning how to make the most money you can. You’ll need it to acquire valuable seeds and gear to improve your garden. And until the developers add cosmetics for decorating, you can only get so creative with your plants. There are a few different ways to earn more from your crops that you may not know about.
Wait For Your Crops to Become Lush
The tutorial doesn’t explain this mechanic, but it’s a big one for making more money. When your plant finishes growing, it still has a few more stages it can go through. Over time, you’ll see the multiplier on it increase as it advances: Unripened (1.0x) -> Ripe (2.0x) -> Lush (3.0x). If you pick it too early, it won’t have a chance to become Lush and have the max multiplier.
Sell Mutated Crops to Earn More
If you’ve played any other farming Roblox games similar to Garden Horizons, you may be familiar with mutations already. While playing, you’ll occasionally experience weather events that help your garden. For example, the Rain weather increases your plant’s growth speed by 25%. But it also has a chance to apply the Soaked and Flooded mutations to plants.
Every mutation increases the value of your plant upon selling it. And the cool part is that plants can have multiple mutations at once. Here are some of the many mutations you can get in Garden Horizons:
- Soaked – 1.2x
- Flooded – 1.8x
- Sandy – 2.5x
- Shocked – 4.5x
- Starstruck – 6.5x
Did you know that you can buy sprinklers from Molly’s Gear Shop that will grow your plants quicker and increase their size? This is one trick to increase the value of your crops on top of mutations and the lush multiplier.
Play With Friends to Get a Boost
Many Roblox experiences reward you for playing with those on your friends list. In the case of Garden Horizons, you’ll get a 5% sell boost for each friend in your server. If you have a bunch of people you want to play with to take advantage of this boost, you can create a free private server. You’ll see the bonus near the bottom left corner if it’s active.
Complete Garden Horizons Quests For Rewards
The tutorial briefly shows you the Quest Board near the center. You can use the Seeds or Sell button at the top of your screen to teleport close to it. Interacting with the Quest Board reveals daily quests that change every 24 hours and weekly ones that take seven days to reset.
Completing these tasks will give you rewards like unique seed packs and shillings. They tend to revolve around activities like harvesting a specific plant, earning money, or planting certain seeds. You can return to the Quest Board if you want to see your progress on each task.
Participate in Limited-Time Events
A little after Garden Horizons launched on Roblox, the developers added Maya the Botanist. You can find her next to Molly’s Gear Shop and interact with her for unique rewards. This is likely a limited-time event where you can bring her certain mutated crops to get IGMA Seed Packs. For more info about Maya the Botanist specifically, check out our page for All Botanist Quests and Rewards.
Before Maya made it to Garden Horizons, there were plenty of little items spread throughout the island teasing her arrival. As the Secrets page mentions, you could find radios emitting Morse code, magnifying glasses, and leaking vials. We’re bound to see other secrets like this later on and more NPCs with tasks to complete.
Redeem Codes for Rewards!
As is the case with many Roblox games, you can redeem active codes to get all sorts of rewards. Take a look at the Garden Horizons Codes page for up to date ones you can use. It also explains how to use them if you’re unsure of how it works!
