Money Making Guide For Octopath Traveler 0

Money Making Guide For Octopath Traveler 0

For a good chunk of the game, you might find yourself strapped for cash in Octopath Traveler 0. Leaves are easy to come by in borderline-adequate supply, and if this were Octopath Traveler 1 or 2 we were talking about, you’d probably think yourself rich on a routine basis.

But this is a game with over 30 party members to outfit, plus several other ways to drop large sums on the fly – especially if you want to make Wishvale as pretty as it can be. To maximize your profits, there are a few key things to keep in mind.

Sell, Sell, Sell (Within Reason)

This first one might sound obvious, but it’s easy to lose track of just how much stuff you’ve got sitting around in your inventory. To put things into perspective, I’d spent much of the game only selling the items that are useful only for selling, while leaving everything else eating up space.

When I finally got around to clearing much of my inventory, I suddenly found myself in the possession of several hundred thousand leaves. I did this again a second and third time, and made roughly the same amount on each occasion. The thing you do want to watch out for, though, is that you should strongly consider leaving some at least halfway-okay armour for every party member, even the ones you don’t use.

This is because one of Octopath Traveler 0’s two possible final bosses involves the participation of more than just your main eight-person party. It’s essentially irrelevant if you end up with the other route, but take it from me – it’s kind of miserable watching your underequipped folks getting one-shot from every attack even though they’re overleveled. By and large, however, you’re safe to sell basically anything else.

Chase Those Caits And Axe Those Octopuffs

We’ve got not one, but two guides linked to Caits and Octopuffs. The first is actually the leveling guide which accompanies this money-making guide, and the latter details how to raise the chances of finding these rare enemies, and how to maximize your odds of landing hits before they flee.

Anyway, you should check those guides out for cash-stashing purposes as well, since multiple varieties of each creature category cough up quite a bit of leaves. Chubby Caits, for one example, drop around 50,000 leaves per kill!

Haggle For Every Shiny Object

Golden rule: if a sell-only item is available for purchase through an NPC Path Action, buy it. Don’t just buy it, of course – haggle for it. When you buy it for the normal price; you’re not going to make a profit.

Haggling, on the other hand, ensures that you will get more leaves for selling it to a shop than you spent to acquire the item. All those Gold-Filled Pouches, Jewelry Bags, even Empty Coinpurses, they’re all flippable. Better yet, once you find a recruitable resident who raises sell prices at Ludo’s shop in Wishvale, you’re bound to make even more profit!

If you have no idea who Ludo is, that just means you’ve not progressed the “Kindlers of the Flame” Wishvale restoration arc far enough to meet him yet, nor to gain his shop!

Certain Nifty Abilities

Here’s the beating heart of making money in Octopath Traveler 0. You want to stock up on particular abilities which either amp up the number of leaves you acquire at the end of a fight, give you a steady influx of leaves from Wishvale, or even snag some leaves from an enemy mid-battle.

Combining these sources can lead to real riches. The Collect skill, for instance, which can be found on several merchant characters as well as the protagonist’s own merchant class, yanks some leaves from your foe. Once a certain spoiler-y character returns to Wishvale, placing them in the church (once that’s built) and raising their amity level to the max gets you something that’ll double post-battle leaves when active.

Various potential residents will give you leaves on a routine basis once brought to Wishvale, and you can elevate those sums considerably by building a storage box and eventually its upgraded versions. The highest-tier version, when placed with money-related residents in town, can store up to 100,000 leaves at once!
