CLEVELAND, Ohio — The giant American flag backdrop for Secretary of War Pete Hegseth’s and President Trump’s Quantico speeches to Generals and Admirals recalled similar staging for a scene in ‘Patton’ starring George C. Scott.
Hegseth spoke first, scolding “fat Generals” and “Beardos.”
“It’s completely unacceptable to see fat generals and admirals in the halls of the Pentagon and leading commands around the country and the world. It’s a bad look.”
So are hair grooming standards not being enforced ordered Hegseth.
” No more beards, long hair. We’re going to cut our hair, shave our beards, and adhere to standards. If you want a beard, you can join special forces. If not, then shave.”
“The era of unacceptable appearance is over. No more Beardos.”
Deferment Donald followed Hegseth. The Commander-in-Chief didn’t look or sound at all in Command, more like a walking-talking sleep walker.
“The president sounded incoherent, exhausted, rabidly partisan, at times stupid, meandering, couldn’t hold a thought together,” said Retired General Barry McCaffrey.
“I’ve been doing this a long time. That presentation at Quantico from the president and secretary of Defense was one of the most bizarre, unsettling events I’ve ever encountered.”
In a Capitol hallway, Rep. Madeline Dean was seen and heard on a ’hot mic’ cornering House Speaker Mike Johnson about Trump’s speech and A.I. generated deepfake meme profanely mocking House and Senate minority leaders Rep. Hakeem Jeffries and Sen. Chuck Schumer, posted the same time they were meeting with the President in The Oval Office on the pending shutdown.
Dean: “The president is unhinged. He is unwell.
Johnson: ” A lot of folks on your side are too. I don’t control him.
Dean: “Oh my God, please. That performance in front of the generals?
Johnson: “I didn’t see it.”
Dean: “That is so dangerous. You know, I serve on Foreign Affairs and Appropriations. This is a collision of those two things. Our allies are looking elsewhere. Our enemies are laughing.”
My cartoon post imagining a second Trump AI generated deepfake superimposing him on George C. Scott’s portrayal of General Patton is giving Trump too much credit. Trump used to own the USFL New Jersey Generals. More likely he’d take the stage in a NJ Generals QB uniform but wearing golf shoes and swinging a driver.
