This weekend, the Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department is holding a “Final Lap to a Forever Home” event with incentives for pet adoption.The AWD’s eastside and westside shelters are waiving adoption fees Saturday and Sunday, and all adopted pets will have updated vaccines, a pet tag, be spayed or neutered and microchipped.In addition, those adopting pets will get one free veterinarian visit and, for those adopting dogs, one free session of basic dog training.Shelter hours are 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
