In the Beginning:
There was pain. Agoninny! In other words, I was creating a sales page using (weep no more, it must be) WordPress. ARGH! Gone was my beloved VI command line text editor and yep… decided to might as well grab the coffee by the coffeecup handles (mainly as I seriously do NOT enjoy 3rd degree burns on my hand).
That was my setting! And I was actually deeeeep into the wheeee! of sales page *wrangling*.
Deep in the trenches of sales page wrangling.
I needed to show off 8 gloriously formatted pages without slicing their edges like a toddler with safety scissors. I figured, “Hey, Photoshop can do this, right?” But alas – Photoshop was about as helpful as a decaf espresso.
Cue dramatic adventure music – I ventured into the depths of the Internet! (Because nothing says excitement like image formatting at 2am, amiright?)
First stop: Canva’s collage tool!
I was thrilled.
Until I wasn’t.
Turns out when you try to mash 4 images into a square collage, Canva gleefully chomps off the exact edges you need to show. It was like handing out cupcakes and forgetting the frosting.
But wait! Light on the horizon! I found the BeFunky.com collage maker and thought, “Yessss! This is it! My image salvation!”
Except… yeah, no.
Same trimming. Same heartbreak.
But then, a flash of caffeine-fueled brilliance struck!
What if I made a collage with 2 rows and 3 columns, but shrunk the third column down to half-size? Would that work?
Spoiler: IT DID.
Saved it.
Popped it into Photoshop.
Edited with glee.
Four beautiful images, stacked tall like a digital skyscraper of formatting triumph. All the glorious edges intact!
Does this magical trick work in Canva too? Honestly… no clue.
But in BeFunky, it’s a game-changer for showcasing 8.5×11 printables without sacrificing your sacred margins. Try it out next time you’re cobbling together a collage and need to keep things sharp.
And hey – bonus points if you do it without yelling at your screen. 🙂
Happy creation!
Enjoy.
