For those looking to make easy extra money on the side — and who isn’t these days? — entrepreneurial expert and self-made millionaire Mark Tilbury posted a video on his YouTube channel with some advice.

Tilbury called these methods the “Laziest Ways to Make Money Online for Beginners,” so they’re going to be low-effort. He based his findings on how steep the learning curve is, how easy it is to deliver results, the opportunity to scale, how much money is needed to start the side hustle and the risk level. Here are the easiest ways to make $100 a day online, according to Tilbury.

Freelancing

Freelancing is all about using your existing skills to work with clients who need them. You can find freelancing gigs through websites like Fiverr, FlexJobs and Upwork, among others.

Tilbury mentioned several types of freelancing: video editing, social media management, graphic design, copywriting and website development — but there are many more skills you can leverage as a freelancer.

“In my opinion, the best one to focus on is video editing,” Tilbury said. “Due to the rise of digital content, there’s a real shortage of great editors at the moment.”

Different skills will allow you to earn different amounts, but you can set your own rates based on your experience and the market rate. Freelance video editors, for example, make around $32 an hour on average, according to ZipRecruiter.

For those just getting into freelancing, Tilbury said the learning curve would be about six months to master the skill and create a portfolio. However, if you already have the skill, you can get started more quickly.

Tilbury praised the flexibility of these gigs, the low risk, the creative control and the low startup costs. However, fulfillment can be tricky, as it involves back and forth with the client. Scalability can be limited unless freelancers raise their rates or hire others to take on more work.

“Overall, this is definitely not the laziest method,” Tilbury said. “However, freelancing could be a great way to start making money online, especially if you’re willing to put in the time, build up your skills and a client list.”

Airbnb Arbitrage

Tilbury described Airbnb arbitrage as renting out a property on a long-term lease as a tenant, then turning around and renting it out on sites like Airbnb.

This is a great way for people who don’t own property to make money renting it out, provided the landlord approves. Be aware, though, that many rental leases prohibit this practice, so you may need to spend some time looking for the right property.

Tilbury figured this would have about a one-to-three-month learning curve to understand Airbnb and local rental laws.

The trick is to find a great property. “Look for places near tourist attractions, universities or business districts,” Tilbury suggested.

Fulfillment can be difficult, as there will be customer service issues to navigate, but scalability can be quite high, according to Tilbury. “You can keep adding more properties to your portfolio, and there’s really no limit to how many you can manage. You just have to make sure you have the time and resources to keep everything running smoothly.”

Tilbury explained that the risk and startup costs are the biggest issues. To get started, he recommended having anywhere from $5,000 to $15,000 to secure the leases. You can either hire property managers to handle the turnover between renters to save time, or do all the cleaning, check-ins and check-outs yourself to save money.

eBay Shop

Opening an eBay shop just requires that individuals have goods they’re willing to sell and maybe some money to buy items to flip or supplies to make things to sell.

The learning curve, Tilbury said, is about two weeks, which consists of getting to know eBay, setting up shop and determining fair prices for items. Fulfillment isn’t too hard, though some customer service issues could come up in the mix, plus sellers have to send out items themselves.

Risk is relatively low, provided sellers choose quality products for their shops.

Scalability of an eBay shop can be quite promising. “You can continually add new products, and there’s really no limit to how many items you can sell,” Tilbury said. “As you start to make more money, you might even want to consider branching out onto other platforms like, Etsy and Amazon.”

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing consists of promoting others’ products or services via social media and getting a kickback for every sale made through referral links. Tilbury pointed out that navigating the learning curve and fulfillment are simple, as there are lots of resources and no need to send out customers’ orders.

The risk is low and the scalability can also be expansive. “You can promote as many products as you want and keep racking up those sales passively,” Tilbury said.

However, while the learning curve isn’t complicated, affiliate marketing can take time to get started: You’ll need a relatively large following on social media, in general, to make any significant amount of money.

You can pay someone to create content for you, Tilbury said, if you don’t want to do it yourself. He suggested having about $250 to get started if you choose this route.

AI-Built Shopify Store

This is what Tilbury dubbed the “laziest method” to make money online. The learning curve is very low, as all people have to do is set up a store on Shopify, get top-selling products suggested to them by the AI, then automate inventory and fulfillment.

“Selecting a niche that aligns with your interests can make the store easier to promote in the long run,” Tilbury said.

He suggested buildyourstore.ai to take the guesswork out of setting up a well-designed store. Getting started is affordable, so the risk is low. Plus, the scalability is practically endless.
