The city of Columbia is warning people about a scam email imitating City Manager De’Carlon Seewood that multiple customers have received.
In a social media post, the city said the email appears to target individuals who have had items recently reviewed by the Planning and Zoning Commission. The email comes from the address planning.como.gov@usa.com rather than one that ends in CoMo.gov.
The email states that payment should be made via wire transfer, and includes fictitious and inflated fees.
The city urges the public not to make a payment if they receive this email.
