Figma has released new AI tools that make it a competitor not only to Adobe, but also to WordPress



Design company Figma has announced the launch of several new features, including artificial intelligence-powered website and app creation. With this update, it is starting to compete not only with companies like Canva and Adobe, but also with WordPress or Wix.

Figma is expanding its software ecosystem to allow product designers to complete project goals without having to rely on third-party apps. Four new features aim to fill in the gaps that prevent Figma from becoming a universal platform that supports the entire product design lifecycle.

As TechCrunch reports, the company’s website creation tool is called Figma Sites. The startup says that designers often prototype how a site should look in Figma. With the new AI-powered tool, they can easily create sites and even publish them. Once a site is created, employees can easily change elements of the site in the editor without prompts.

Users can also add transitions, animations, and scrolling effects, making the site responsive. These can be added either using existing code or using Site’s AI tool, which generates new interaction codes using text descriptions.

Figma is adding the ability to generate blog posts directly from your site. This means that sites will have a content management system (CMS), a future feature that allows users to edit posts within the blog design, as well as manage other assets such as thumbnails and slides.

Figma Make is a similar AI-powered tool that is more focused on ideation and prototyping. Users can enter a prompt to create a web app. The app prototype is shared, and users can tell the assistant how to change or add certain elements. Additionally, if there is a developer on the team, they can directly modify the code to make the necessary changes.

Users can also create small interactive elements, such as clocks, and embed them into pages published through Figma Sites later.

Figma is also releasing a new tool for marketers called Figma Buzz. With this tool, marketers can easily use templates created by designers with brand-specific features in mind to create new creatives. They can also use the tool to insert AI-generated images or change the background of certain assets. Marketers can create assets in bulk using data from sources such as spreadsheets.

Another new feature is a vector editing and illustration tool called Figma Draw. Essentially, it’s a simplified version of Adobe Illustrator that artists can use to create their own visual effects without leaving the Figma platform.

It includes a variety of brushes, texture effects, and vector editing tools for creating or adjusting scalable images and logos for product design projects. Figma Draw is available to full-plan users as a toggle in Figma Design.

Figma also announced a new subscription plan priced at $8 per month, which will give users access to Figma Buzz, Slides, FigJam, and Sites CMS.
