All GTA 5 Story Mode Money Glitches and Tips

You can never have enough money in GTA 5, especially when there’s a bevy of exotic cars and extravagant airplanes available for purchase. Wrapping up the main story while selecting the most profitable option rewards players with a hefty amount of cash. However, it’s still not enough to invest in every property and buy all the vehicles on offer. This is part of the reason why some players turn to exploits or glitches to stack an extra bit of cheddar. If you’re looking for the same thing, here are some GTA 5 money glitches to try out in the story mode.

1. Hidden Packages Glitch

The single-player mode features around 12 GTA hidden package locations scattered throughout Los Santos. A majority of these can be found underwater, and they contain varying amounts of cash. All you have to do is swim down to the sea floor and grab them. The most profitable hidden package in the game, located near Pacific Bluffs, carries $25,000, and with a bit of trickery, you can turn it into an infinite source of income.

To do this, you’ll need to head to the location from the map above and dive into the ocean. Once you’re submerged in water, quicksave and turn off your autosave. Now, swim down to the wrecked submarine and collect the package before returning to the surface and quicksaving once again. After this, load back into your save and dive towards the submarine. You’ll find that the package has respawned, but the amount you previously collected is still in your account. In case it does not respawn, you’ll still have the option to return to your initial save and try again.

2. Lester’s Assassinations

This one isn’t exactly a glitch, but a clever way to maximize your profits from Lester’s Assassination missions. For the unacquainted, these missions are all about taking out prominent figures associated with the many corporate companies inside the GTA universe. Each mission topples the stock of the affected company while its competitor rises in value. The key to banking on this volatility is to invest all your money strategically into both stocks and sell your holdings at the right time.

If you’re looking to earn obscene sums of money from these missions, we recommend holding off until story completion. Once ‘The Third Way’ is completed and you’re ready to take on the assassinations, make sure to check out our guide on the best GTA 5 stocks to know how to go about it.

3. Investing in the Stock Market

Unlike the assassination missions, where stock movements are predictable, investing in the stock market is a little trickier. There’s still a ton of money to be made here, and you’re going to start by opening up the stock market website on your phone. Now, head to the LCN tab and look for eCola (ECL) stock. Make sure the autosave is turned off before purchasing ECL units in bulk.

To boost its value, go around the city and destroy any Sprunk vending machines you encounter. You can find multiple machines in the Pleasure Pier amusement park east of Vespucci Beach. During your vandalism streak, be sure not to wreck any eCola vending machines by accident.

After destroying at least four machines, head to your character’s safe house and sleep 3-4 times. This will advance the in-game time, and after 24 hours have passed, you’ll find a green return percentage on eCola in your portfolio. This method can be repeated multiple times, but we recommend saving your game beforehand to avoid any financial losses. You can even try this with car insurance, life insurance. Make sure to eliminate, well, whatever the former two are insuring to get a bump.

4. Armored Trucks Exploit

While exploring Los Santos, you’re likely to come across armored trucks denoted with a green circle on your mini map. These trucks serve as money stashes that you’re free to collect by blowing open their rear doors. They don’t carry a ton of money, but there is an exploit you can take advantage of to turn them into infinite cash wells.

To execute this, play as Michael and get behind the wheel of one of these trucks by taking out the driver. Now, drive to Michael’s house and store the truck in the garage. After this, hop out of the vehicle, place some stick bombs on the rear doors, and blow them open. The money stash will pop out, collect it, and head into the house to skip time by sleeping. When you return to the garage, you’ll find that the truck is fully repaired with its doors intact. Use the sticky bombs on it once again, and you’ll be able to collect ever more cash.

5. GTA 5 Ammu-Nation Money Glitch

While this GTA 5 story mode glitch won’t give you a ton of cash, you can use it to make a quick buck. Head over to Ammu-Nation in La Mesa and shoot the owner. Once done, loot the cash register and leave the shop. Walk a bit farther out by crossing the road, and then head back in. You’ll find the shop empty with the cash registers having respawned. So when you need some quick GTA cash, this is the glitch to try.

That wraps up the best money glitches in the GTA 5 story mode. If you think we’re missing out on any well-known exploits, be sure to let us know in the comments below.
