The Sims 4 has added quite a few new job options with the Businesses and Hobbies Expansion. In addition to running a big or small business, you can now learn tattoo and pottery skills, which can be used to help you start your business and grow it into a steady source of income for your Sim and their family. Of course, starting and building a business is easier said than done, even in the virtual world of The Sims 4.
When you create a Sim, you can add tattoos in The Sims 4. Now, you can get tattoos at a tattoo parlor if you have the Businesses and Hobbies pack. Additionally, you can start your own tattoo parlor from your Sim’s house or purchase another lot and run the parlor from there. First, you have to know how to get a business started with this new expansion.

How To Open A Tattoo Parlour (Everything Needed)
Start With A Venue
If you want to start any business in The Sims 4, you first need a venue from which you can run your small business. Running the business from your home means you already have your own venue, and you can begin registering your business. However, if you want to purchase a new lot for your business, open up your smartphone and go to the business menu, which has the briefcase icon. From here, you can buy a small business venue lot.

Sims 4 Fans Discover Creative New Ways To Use Tattoo Feature, As Official Doja Cat Designs Hit The Gallery
The Sims 4 has just launched three new tattoo designs inspired by Doja Cat, but some fans are taking it a step further with cerative custom designs.
Picking the option to buy a lot for a small business takes you to the residential world menu. From here, you want to look for a residential, community, or small venue lot within your budget. As you purchase it, you can check the box to automatically register the lot as a small business. If you don’t, you can register it later the same way you’ll need to if you use your house as the venue.
Register Your Small Business
Next, you need to register your business. This is similar to buying a venue. All you need to do is open your phone again and go to the business menu. Then, select the option to register your small business. It costs 750 Simoleons to register, so you want to add that to the starting amount you plan to gather before starting a business. I like to make sure my Sims have saved up a decent chunk of money before starting a business because unexpected expenses always pop up.
When you register your business, the menu lets you pick your business’s activities, along with your choice of logo and the kinds of clients you want to target. For activities, you choose “Get Tattooed” and “Practice Tattooing” to create a tattoo parlor.
Having the “Practice Tattooing” option chosen means you’ll have other Sims rent space in your business as tattoo artists and work from there.
You can pick up to five activities, so the other three are up to you. I like the “Clean” and “to Music” choices since I would want to get tattoos from a location that takes sanitation seriously. For target customers, you essentially just want Sims in the teen stage or higher since Sims younger than teens are unable to get tattoos.
Necessary Items
Now that your business is registered, you need a few items before you welcome clients. You need a tattoo table as the bare minimum, and then you want to consider purchasing items like signs and ticket kiosks. You also want to make sure that you have a bathroom and a way for Sims to have snacks to keep their moods from dropping. If you want to be fancy, the Digitalistic Sketchpad lets your Sim design tattoos for their business.

It’s About Your Skills
Naturally, tattoos are going to be your main income. If your tattoo artist doesn’t have a high skill level, you want to go with a ticket kiosk to earn money. This lets you pick an entry fee and then a per-hour rate that Sims pay based on how long they spend in the parlor. That way, your income isn’t as affected by your low skill level as you work to practice and raise it.

The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies Review: An Entrepreneurial Venture That’s Just A Little Undercooked
The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies adds several meaningful features that give players lots of creative potential, but sadly lacks depth in other areas.
When you have a decent skill level for tattooing, you want a flat service-based fee. This is because the fee is based on your skill, so a higher skill level means that you earn more per tattoo with this payment style. As a result, you might want tattooing as a hobby in The Sims 4 to raise your skills before starting a parlor to make more money from the start with a service fee. Of course, you can earn a little extra with options like food stalls at your business.
As you build your business, you can move to hiring tattoo artists and other employees through the Owned Business menu. It might take time before you have enough income earned from your business to afford to pay for employees, but that makes the option to let other artists rent space from you more appealing. From here, you can chase your dreams in the virtual world of The Sims 4 or try to create a little empire of small businesses.
