Welcome!
Today in History, 1776: Thomas Paine published Common Sense, a 50-page pamphlet that sold more than 500,000 copies within a few months and called for a war of independence that would become the American Revolution.
Just imagine where America would be if that didn’t happen.

Idea #1.) Beware Mob Mentality!
This is something that REALLY frosts my petunias.
You know the video about one of the female LA firefighters, the one about “… if a man is in a fire, it’s basically his mistake!” Personally, I could NOT believe such a video could exist. Aaaaand I spent hours and hours (keep in mind, I currently have some sort of virus, so while I couldn’t do much re: actual work, I *could* research) looking for that particular interview online. Guess what?
I could not locate any other clip on YouTube about it.
And then I remembered… AI! Here’s the question I asked:
where is the original interview of LAFD Assistant Chief Kristine Larson saying Am I able to carry your husband out of a fire? He got himself in the wrong place.
Grok responded:
The original interview where LAFD Assistant Chief Kristine Larson made the statement, “Am I able to carry your husband out of a fire? He got himself in the wrong place,” appears to be from a segment that aired during a commercial break for the TV show ‘9-1-1’ on Fox. However, the exact source or full context of the interview isn’t directly specified in the available information.
ChatGPT said:
I couldn’t find any interview from October 2019 where LAFD Assistant Chief Kristine Larson says, “Am I able to carry your husband out of a fire? He got himself in the wrong place.” It’s possible the quote is paraphrased, misattributed, or from an informal setting not documented online. If you have more details—like the interview’s date, platform, or context—I’d be happy to dig deeper!
But Newsweek DID report “Los Angeles Fire Department Deputy (LAFD) Chief Kristine Larson is facing widespread criticism online after comments surfaced in which she appeared to shift blame onto fire victims for their circumstances.
Speaking as part of a video that aired during a commercial break for the FOX show 9-1-1 about firefighter capabilities, Larson said, “Am I able to carry your husband out of a fire? He got himself in the wrong place if I have to carry him out.””
Blah, is all I say to that – blah.
